History of Amharic

Amharic descended from Ge'ez, the ancient Ethiopian liturgical language. It became Ethiopia's imperial language under the Solomonic dynasty and is now the federal working language. Ethiopia's unique Christian heritage and independence from colonialism preserved Amharic's distinct character.

Is Amharic Hard to Learn?

Very Hard

Amharic uses the Ge'ez script (Fidel) with 231 syllabic characters - each consonant has seven forms for different vowels. Grammar includes verb-final word order and complex conjugations. However, unlike Arabic, it reads left-to-right.
