History of Czech

Czech emerged as a literary language in the 13th century and reached its golden age under Charles IV. The language nearly died during Habsburg rule but was revived in the 19th century National Revival. Czech and Slovak were artificially combined in Czechoslovakia but separated in 1993.

Is Czech Hard to Learn?

Hard

Czech has seven cases, complex verb aspects, and the notoriously difficult ř sound. However, spelling is consistent, and shared Slavic vocabulary helps with other languages in the family. Czech is considered slightly easier than Polish.
