History of Bashkir
Bashkir or Bashkort is a Turkic language belonging to the Kipchak branch. It is co-official with Russian in Bashkortostan. It is spoken by approximately 1.6 million native speakers in Russia, as well as in Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Estonia, and other neighboring post-Soviet states, and among the Bashkir diaspora.
Is Bashkir Hard to Learn?
Bashkir belongs to the Kipchak branch of Turkic, so its vowel harmony and suffix-stacking grammar closely resemble Tatar and Kazakh, which helps if you already know one of those languages. Learners still need to master the Cyrillic alphabet plus a few Bashkir-specific letters and sounds not found in Russian, alongside consistent verb-final word order.
