History of Hiligaynon
Hiligaynon (also called Ilonggo) is the language of the Western Visayas region. The area was a major center during the Spanish colonial period. Iloilo was the wealthiest city in the Philippines in the late 19th century. Today Hiligaynon remains one of the Philippines' major regional languages.
Is Hiligaynon Hard to Learn?
Hiligaynon shares the Philippine verb focus system but is considered more musical and softer than Tagalog. Spanish loanwords are common. Grammar is similar to other Philippine languages, making cross-learning easier.
