History of Aymara
Aymara predates the Inca Empire and was once spoken across a larger area of the Andes. The Incas incorporated Aymara speakers, and the language survived Spanish colonization. Today it's co-official in Bolivia and Peru. The Aymara are known for their distinctive worldview, including a spatial concept where the past is ahead (visible) and the future behind (unseen).
Is Aymara Hard to Learn?
Aymara has complex suffixation like Quechua but with a unique four-person system (including a distinction between inclusive and exclusive 'we'). Its concept of time is reversed from European languages—the future is 'behind' and the past 'in front.' The logic differs fundamentally from English.
