History of Quechua

Quechua originated in central Peru and spread as the administrative language of the Inca Empire (Tawantinsuyu). Spanish colonizers used it as a lingua franca for evangelization, ironically helping its spread. Despite colonial suppression, Quechua survived and is now co-official in Peru, Bolivia, and Ecuador. It's the most spoken indigenous language family in the Americas.

Is Quechua Hard to Learn?

Hard

Quechua is agglutinative with complex suffix systems that modify meaning. It has three-way evidentiality marking (how you know something). Word order is flexible but suffixes are crucial. The phonology includes ejective consonants unfamiliar to English speakers.
