History of Kiga

Kiga is a Great Lakes Bantu language of the Kiga people (Bakiga). Kiga is a similar and partially mutually intelligible with the Nkore language. It was first written in the second half of the 19th century.

Is Kiga Hard to Learn?

Medium

Kiga's Latin spelling is phonetic and learnable, and its close mutual intelligibility with Nkore (Runyankore) means resources for either language transfer partly to the other. Like other Bantu languages, its noun class system reshapes agreement across the sentence, which takes deliberate practice to internalize.
